You can sell your gold at http://www.mycashforgold.info
It is a reputable company, and member of the BBB. I sold mine there, I got a lot of money for it. Good Luck!
References :
Yes, somebody eventually ends up with the goods. My favorite stories are commodity trades gone wrong like the British guy that had heating oil pumped into his basement because he forgot to sell his contract. Others have had grain dumped on their front lawns.

It's about future contracts. Let's say this ranch has cattle, but the ranch doesn't know how many cattle to have since it will take time for the cattle to grow. So people guess on how many cattle will be in demand at a future date. They make and sell real contracts with prices built into the contracts. In the end the investors do not want to hold contracts. The investors want the industries that use cattle to end up owning the contracts. While everyone waits, the price of the goods created by cattle can go up or down over the original price and that's where the investors make or lose their money. Now the date of the contracts has ended (for LCG9 that's Feb 2009) and now it's time for the investors to unload any contracts they have left. That's when the people left holding the contracts should be the people that wanted the cattle. They in turn get the cattle at a known date.
References :
Commodity trading is exactly what it says. The traders don't actually buy them but they purchase options on them and either sell them for a profit or make a loss.
